SUPPORTING SMALL BUSINESSES AND OUR ECONOMY
SUPPORTING SMALL BUSINESSES AND OUR ECONOMY
Small businesses are the heart of our neighborhoods and the engine of our local economy. But too often, they’re held back by red tape, late payments on city contracts, and a lack of access to capital—especially in communities of color, immigrant neighborhoods, and low-income areas.
Mark Levine has a proven record of supporting small businesses. He founded the Neighborhood Trust Federal Credit Union, which has to date provided $100M in low-interest loans to New Yorkers needing capital for their small businesses, and as Borough President, launched a no-interest loan program in partnership with the Hebrew Free Loan Society that has provided $2 million in no-interest loans to small businesses.
As Comptroller, he’ll work to expand these loan programs, fight to ensure small businesses get paid on time, and audit city agencies to eliminate barriers that keep entrepreneurs from thriving. Because when small businesses succeed, jobs are created and New York succeeds.
